The Research Project “Sex determination of poultry eggs”

As part of the initiative „Eine Frage der Haltung – Neue Wege für mehr Tierwohl“, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is supporting a collaborative research project on “In-Ovo Gender Determination” carried out at the University of Leipzig. Early Gender determination of fertilized chicken eggs, seems to be the option with the greatest potential for ending the killing of male chicks. As industrial partner in the project, EVONTA-Technology GmbH is involved in the development and construction of a prototype aimed to transfer the new technology into industrial practice.
